Choosing a Cloud-Based Communications Solution: Part 3

Over the last two blogs we reviewed the benefits of buying a cloud-based system vs. a premise-based system. But you have one more option, keeping your existing system. But before you can make a purchase, you need to understand the pros and cons of this option. Read part 3 of the Choosing a Cloud-Based Communications Solution article to learn about keeping your current system.

Keep Your Existing System

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” goes the old adage. For many companies, there is no desire to make a change unless the phone system fails completely. There are good reasons to stick with what you have. These include: avoiding new costs, avoiding additional complexity, losing focus on other projects. These are all valid reasons not to change your communications solutions, however do consider the added risk involved.

The average phone solution has a lifespan of around 7-10 years. After that point, your odds begin increasing on a daily basis that there will be a business impacting outage. This may not even be a system failure. It could be that the system can no longer be updated to stay current for security reasons or just to support current software. There is a real risk of holding on to older systems too long.

If you are determined to keep your current system, Vertical is happy to work with you to support it and keep it operational. Our expert team provides local support nationwide from our network of local field offices. Consider signing up for a Vertical support contract.
